Ash - 1977
First off I would like to apologize for the tardiness of this week’s “TBAYHONHO”. I will attribute it to me having a proper teaching job, but anyone who really knows me knows that it was not put up because of laziness. You can make that decision on your own though.
This week’s album 1977 by Ash was one of my favorite albums of all time. Though now it wouldn’t be a top 10 album in my book, it’s a least in my top 25 albums. Released in 1996 through Interscope/ Reprise records this became the bands breakthrough album spawning many hits in the UK and some minor success here in the states from singles like Girl from Mars and the punk rock inspired KungFu (which happened to be featured on the Jackie Chan movie Rumble in the Bronx) leading the charge. Making this album was bound to be a classic album.

Special thanks to eagle eyed listener Jonesyman for this bit of dective work. It appears as though our beloved Mario won’t be available to star in Super Mario Galaxy 2. He is very, very busy…

I love playing video games. In fact, I probably play them too much. But I’ll be damned if there aren’t a bunch of problems that make me want to launch my PS3 out my window. These problems can ruin modes, games, or even genres. I’ve compiled a list of five of the worst problems with modern video games, as well as a few of the worst offenders. All of the problems, and the worst offenders that I’ve come up with, are my opinion alone; if you disagree or hate something else, I’d love to hear what you think.

Teenage Fanclub - Grand Prix
Teenage Fanclub, one of the many great Creation Records bands, released this weeks featured album, Grand Prix, in 1995 to very little success. It even caused them to get dropped from their label at the time. Their album 1991 Bandwagonesque did moderetly well here in the states. It was even featured as one of the best albums of ‘91 and it earned them a spot opening for Nirvana. So, what happened to this album?

For any of you who read our preview, and have been looking forward to Episode 1 of Strong Bad’s Cool Game for Attractive People, the wait is over. The game is available today for WiiWare and directly from Telltales’s website. The good folks over at Telltale were kind enough to provide us with an evaluation copy (of the PC version), so you can look forward to hearing our impressions in Episode 24 of our podcast. I will be buying the Wii version tonight, so I will be able to weigh in on how it feels to play from the comfort of my couch.
If you want to try the game out, there is a free demo available for PC. You can download it here. Whether you play the demo, or purchase the game, be sure to post your impressions in the comments section.

Black Rebel Motorcycle Club - Take Them on, on Your Own
One year departed from their fourth album, the Black Rebel Motorcycle Club are well on their way to becoming one of the best bands in America. Their second album, Take Them On, On Your Own, marked the end of the first stage of their career. As a whole, the album was very dark, as seen in “Six Barrel Shotgun” when they sing the phrase “I’ll kill myself with a six barrel shotgun, I’d kill you all but I need you so.”
Despite the darkness found in this album, it also relies on fantastic music. All of the songs on the album are strong and you can feel the emotion behind it.
